This competition evaluates wines in three primary areas: quality, value for money, and visual appeal. Award-winning wines must excel in quality, offer great value to both trade and consumers, and have an eye-catching presentation on shelves and bars.
Criteria for Evaluation:
- Quality: Assessed based on customer appeal and chemical analysis, considering appearance, aroma, body, taste, and aftertaste.
- Value: Measures how well a wine is priced and the value it provides.
- Packaging: Judges assess how the package is perceived by consumers, focusing on factors like label design, closure, and overall appearance on the shelf.

Black currant and some back plum on the nose with brackish notes. Palate is round with a good balance of fruit, tannin and alcohol.
Ta’ Betta, Philippe Villiers 2018
Rich ruby appearance. Jammy fruit profile with raspberry, strawberry, blackberry along with mint, liquorice candy and coffee liquor. Balanced by high acidity.
Ta’ Betta, Isabella Guasconi Rosé 2022
The nose is rich with raspberries, clove and ginger. Flavours of raspberries and red cherries on the palate. Medium-bodied wine with medium finish.
Ta’ Betta, Jean Parisot 2020
Lemon and apple aromas on the nose with biscuity, toasty notes. Rich palate with flavours of stone fruit, caramelised lemon and cooked stone fruit. Long finish with smoke flavours.
